All members of BAOT are allocated to a regional group depending on geographical location
Each Regional Group has a Regional Committee made up of elected members who are provided with a small budget to support BAOT members in that region. Regional Committees meet to implement the agreed business plan of BAOT/COT and share best practice. There are eight Regional Groups in England and four in Scotland. Both Wales and Northern Ireland are unitary.
Vacancies on Regional Committees are published every January. Potential members of Regional Committees are nominated for three year terms. Where more than one member is nominated for the same position elections take place which are open to all the members in a particular region. The dates of these elections are published at the same time as these vacancies.
BAOT encourages members to establish and join local groups
BAOT local groups are self-organised. Regional Committees provide BAOT local groups with financial support for their activities and events. Currently, there are about 100 local groups across the United Kingdom registered with the College of Occupational Therapists.
