Professional Standards define a level and quality of service that people can expect from an occupational therapist

The Professional Standards for Occupational Therapy Practice are broad statements which relate to the organisation and delivery of occupational therapy services. They describe a level of practice that the British Association of Occupational Therapists expects its members to abide by, and believe all occupational therapists should follow. The objective of Professional Standards for Occupational Therapy Practice is to raise the quality, safety and effectiveness of occupational therapy service provision across the United Kingdom.

The standards provide a single source by which all occupational therapy staff can audit, evaluate and improve their practice. They also inform others outside the profession what they may expect from occupational therapy services in terms of best practice. They are produced in alignment with the
