Research & Development

Research and Development has responsibility for research and development, research governance, information management and library and information services

Research and Development officers undertake strategic activities to promote occupational therapy research in the UK, and disseminate relevant information to members.

Key activities of the Research and Development department include:

  • supporting the work and research of BAOT members and staff with Library resources and services
  • administering the College’s annual awards
  • taking responsibility for the United Kingdom Occupational Therapy Research Foundation (UKOTRF)
  • representing members on the National Programmes for IT to ensure electronic care records support occupational therapy practice
  • ensuring that the research activity undertaken by our business groups and Specialist Sections meets research governance requirements
  • working to build research capacity among BAOT membership
  • increase the opportunities for occupational therapists to become engaged in research activity
