'Casson appeared well fitted to her work as secretary at Red Cross Hall, which was attached to a group of quaint cottages and a communal, specially designed, occupational garden.'

'Whilst an undergraduate Casson revelled in the carefree life of being a student. She enjoyed the delightful surroundings of Clifton Hill House, the Hall where she lived, the formalities of University life and academic pageantry, and made a pleasure of the extra duties called for as a result of World War I. With others, she pulled 'the great roller over the lawn,' 'milked Jane the goat,' 'made quilts for French refugees, and knitted socks of unusual shapes'.

'In early lectures to students, Casson told them that it was particularly important for them to understand that:
...all stimuli that reached the brain resulted in instinctive or in voluntary action. This may occur immediately, but if thwarted the mental energy is stored and the urge to action becomes involved and combined in sentiments that later become the motives of organized activities.'
