New Guidance on Disability and Learning
The Education Department at the College of Occupational Therapists has developed some guidance on Disability and Learning. The key aims of this document are to:
- help interpret new disability legislation in respect of duties and responsibilities of education and placement providers
- clarify the definition of disability, and discrimination against disability
- offer some principles relating to disability and the student journey
- indicate ways in which an education and placement provider can make anticipatory and reasonable adjustments for disabled students
- identify good practice in this area
If you hold one of the following positions and would like clarification about your role and responsibilities in relation to disability and learning, then this document may well be of use to you:
- admissions tutors
- programme leaders
- practice placement tutors
- practice placement co-ordinators
