Down and Lisburn Trust Multidisciplinary Palliative Care Team
Following a Trust wide training needs analysis of palliative care, Down and Lisburn Trust Multidisciplinary Palliative Care Team have developed a 3 day training programme and have embarked on the 2nd roll out of this multiprofessional training programme to all staff within the Trust.

North and West Belfast Health and Social Services Trust (N&WBHSST)
A Baseline Audit of Occupational Therapy Services for Cancer and Palliative Care Clients in N&WBHSST was completed in June 2005.
The objectives of the audit were:
- To review the current Occupational Therapy Service provision in oncology and oncology related palliative care within the Community Occupational Therapy Service in North & West Belfast Health & Social Services Trust
- To identify the range of occupational therapy interventions in oncology and palliative care
- To investigate current methods of recording occupational therapy activity both direct and non-direct client related, in oncology and palliative care
- To identify the specific needs of this client group and highlight any unmet needs within occupational therapy services for this client group
- To establish the proportion of time occupational therapists spend in meeting the needs of this client group
- To carry out a trend analysis of equipment and adaptations provision for this client group
- To form a baseline from which to establish best occupational therapy practice in oncology and palliative care

As part of the basic grades rotation in oncology it is required that a literature review / audit / service development report be completed. To date a number of these have been completed including the role of OT in body image, breathlessness, return to work, lymphoedema, relaxation and brain tumours.
