Mental Health Clinical Forum
The Mental Health Clinical Forum is for Specialist Section - Older People members who work with older people with a diagnosis of functional mental illness, for example depression or anxiety.
Although many adults also experience these conditions, older people often face mental health needs alongside the loss of physical health and other life events such as bereavement or retirement. The combination of these factors can lead to significant difficulties and periods of ill health that are very different from those experienced by younger adults and require the interventions of staff who specialise in the treatment of older people. There are many advances develpoing in this area of speciality, both legally and in the higher national profile it has gained.

Become our second Forum Lead
We are keen to recruit a second Forum Lead as there is a vacancy since Ameena Corrigan’s term ended. No previous specific experience is required, but you will need bags of enthusiam, some good ideas to help develop this still emerging forum, and a willingness to get involved. You will also need to be an existing member of the Mental Health Forum and will need to seek nomination. We need to bring up to date news and articles to members of this Forum. If you were there at the Fringe Meeting at this year’s Confernce at Harrogate, you will have met some of the National Executive Committee. We are a friendly and supportive group – and welcome new faces!
