Government announces revised NHS Constitution for England

Andrew Lansley, Secretary of State for Health, has tabled a second Written Ministerial Statement announcing that the Government has published a revised NHS Constitution for England following the Department of Health's public consultation on whistleblowing. The revised NHS Constitution includes:

NICE End of Life Care Quality Standard

The End of Life Care Quality Standard published by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence defines clinical best practice within End of Life Care for adults.

It provides specific, concise quality statements, measures and audience descriptors to provide the public, health and social care professionals, commissioners and service providers with definitions of high-quality care.

In these challenging times, recruiting a new team member can take up a great deal of your time which can be stressful particularly when you are managing your own case load as well as ensuring the rest of your team are meeting their goals at work. And nowadays, there is even greater pressure on department head count, so if a vacancy appears then you are faced with further scrutiny on whether the vacancy should be filled. So making sure you appoint the right person is crucial.

Healthcare Support Workers Code of Conduct and Employer Code of Practice

These two codes apply to all Healthcare Support Workers (HCSW) employed in clinical and non clinical environments within NHS Wales who commenced employment with effect from 1 February 2011 as well as those staff who transfer employment within NHS Wales from that date. It also applies to all employers of those staff. The codes will be rolled out to include all existing staff by 2012.
