This report by Helen Lycett, Council Member, Professional Practice Board, highlights key items discussed at the BAOT/COT Council meeting on 10 January 2012.
Council is the board of directors of the British Association and College of Occupational Therapists and Council members are also trustees of the College
Nomination forms for seats on Council are sent out to all members in the January issue of Occupational Therapy News. All members are eligible to vote. Elections are in April and the results are released at the Annual General Meeting in June. Members hold office for up to three years and no Council member can serve for longer than five consecutive years. The Chairman of Council is elected every year. All other BAOT/COT Boards and officers are accountable to Council and ultimately Council is accountable to the members.
